The Great British Beer Festival wouldn’t work without the support of some big friends. Every year we are proud to bring together some amazing sponsors to ensure a unique festival experience.

Headline Sponsors

Wetherspoon is once again delighted to continue its long-standing collaboration with the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) on its Great British Beer Festival 2018 – the annual beer-filled celebration of real ale. The event showcases everything great about beer – a passion which we share at Wetherspoon and throughout our pubs across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Wetherspoon has championed real ale for almost 40 years. We are proud to have 225 entries in the 2018 CAMRA Good Beer Guide, as well as Cask Marque accreditation in all of our pubs – testament to our staff’s wholehearted commitment to serving excellent-quality beer. Date for your diary – our next festival (10 – 21 October 2018, inclusive) will feature another collection of ales, including UK and international brewers, as well as a range of ciders.

Greene King

Greene King is proud to be this year’s headline sponsor for the Great British Beer Festival. GBBF is a fantastic celebration of the variety and complexity of British beer. Brewing in Bury St Edmunds, the home of Greene King, dates back 1000 years to the Doomsday book and in 2019 our two historic breweries, Westgate in Bury St Edmunds and Belhaven in Dunbar will be celebrating a combined brewing heritage of 520 years. Within our range, from pale ales to craft beers and from bitters to porters one thing is for sure, our passion for brewing top quality, delicious beer is as strong today as all those years ago.

SIBA – Trade Day and Volunteer T-shirts

SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers, is a trade association that represents 835 independent British craft breweries. This year SIBA is using its Assured Independent British Craft Brewers seal to sponsor the GBBF Trade Day.

In order to help drinkers and beer buyers make informed choices, SIBA commissioned independent market research to find out how important it was for beer drinkers to know whether they were drinking truly independent British craft beer. The research showed 69% of beer drinkers thought it would be useful to have a seal on beer dispense such as handpulls, bottles and cans that helped highlight the beer had been brewed by a British independent craft brewery.

SIBA therefore launched the Assured Independent British Craft Brewer(AIBCB) seal, which highlights breweries who are fully independent, British, relatively small and agree to brew their beers in accordance with SIBA’s Food Safety & Quality standard. The AIBCB seal can only be used by truly independent British craft brewers, so beer drinkers can be sure that wherever they see the seal the craft beer they are drinking is the real thing.

Look out for the seal on the bars at GBBF!

Long Live The Local – Festival Guide

The pub. The local. The life of the village, the heart of the town, the soul of the country… is facing an unwelcome future. Every day 3 pubs close their doors for good.

This summer, ‘Long Live The Local’ will rally the British public, celebrating pubs and reminding people how vital local pubs are to our communities, culture and national identity.

However, between Beer Duty, VAT and business rates, pubs are under increasing tax pressures. One-in-three pounds spent in the pub goes straight to the taxman amounting to an average of £140,000 per pub every year. In November Beer Duty is set to rise again, so we’re asking locals everywhere to sign a petition telling the chancellor the public want a cut in Beer Duty, not a rise.

To sign the petition head to www.longlivethelocal.pub where you can also send a letter to your local MP asking them to support the cause in Parliament. If you’re a publican we have a range of beer mats, tent cards and posters available to inform your customers and staff how pubs need to be supported.

Together we can keep our pubs open and thriving. Visit www.longlivethelocal.pub
