Sample the finest English wines at this year’s Great British Beer Festival

The Great British Beer Festival will be celebrating 40 years of serving the country’s most iconic brews by expanding its drinks offering to include fine English wines for the very first time.

The Festival, which takes place next week from the 8th-12th August at Olympia London, will be partnering with Honest Grapes to serve their range of premium artisan English wines. Visitors to the Honest Grapes English Wine Bar will be able to enjoy a selection of red, white and sparkling wines, as well as artisan British gin.

Some of the brands on offer include:

  • Exton Park – a relatively new vineyard based in the heart of Hampshire. Exton is one of the largest vineyards in the country and is based on terroir that precisely mirrors the famous champagne vineyards across the Channel.
  • Chapel Down – producers of world-class range of sparkling and still wines. Their sparkling wines are created using the Traditional Method, the same as Champagne, from fruit sourced from the South-East of England.
  • Gusbourne – the original Gusbourne Estate in Appledore, Kent dates back to 1410 and today produces English sparkling wines that stand up alongside the very finest offerings from across the globe.
  • Fishers – Fishers Gin combines rare old English herbs and botanicals with distilled barley, sourced entirely from East Anglian farmers.

Ian Hill, Great British Beer Festival organiser says: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Honest Grapes to the Great British Beer Festival. While beer will always remain the centre focus of the Festival, we wanted to make this year special by having more variety and choice than ever before.

“In the 40 years since the Festival first started we have seen some tremendous changes to the world of beer. What better way to celebrate than by expanding our offering – with even more festival-exclusive beers and for the very first time, fine English wines and gins!”

Tom Harrow, Co Founder of Honest Grapes says: “We look forward to bringing our range of quality wines to the Great British Beer Festival, which has always been the top spot to taste some of the most cutting edge and unique artisan drinks in Britain.

“It has never been a more exciting time for English wine, with so many fantastic producers emerging across the country. Our hope is that the wine industry mirrors the success story of British beer, which has exploded in the last few decades.”
